MUMBAI, Oct. 29 -- Newly married couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor were supposed to perform together for the first time post their nuptials at the Colors' People's Choice Awards function held on Saturday. But Saif backed out at the last minute, leaving the organisers in a lurch.
The husband-wife actor duo was supposed to perform on separate solo dance routines before joining each other in a special act.
Due to the unavoidable circumstance, the organisers had to make quick arrangements to find a fitting substitute. Luckily, they got the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa winner Gurmeet Choudhary and Rithvik Dhanjani to fill in for Saif's part of the dance routine.
A source claims, "Saif informed the organisers on Thursday that as he is unwell, he will have to bow out. As it was a last minute decision, the situation became chaotic. Though the organisers understood Saif's problem, their plan to have both Saif and Kareena on stage post marriage alas couldn't materialise."
However, Kareena took it in her stride and went on rehearsing her act. On Saturday evening, she performed solo on her hit numbers 'Halkat jawani' (Heroine), 'Chamak challo' (RA.One, 2011). A day before the event, Gurmeet and Rithvik too joined in and rehearsed on Saif's songs 'Tumhi ho bandhu' (Cocktail) , 'Raabta' (Agent Vinod) etc.
