Actor Arshad Warsi, who is best known for his role of Circuit in the Munnabhai series and Babban in filmmaker Abhishek Chaubey’s Ishqiya, finds Bollywood’s R100 crore club “lame”.
The 44-year-old, who has been in the industry for around a decade, says: “I find this whole Rs. 100 crore club very stupid. How can every film releasing lately do a business of Rs. 100 crores all of a sudden? Instead of this, we need to concentrate on making good films.”
Warsi will be seen playing a lawyer for the first time, in his upcoming film, Jolly LLB. “I’m very happy about playing Jolly, who is a struggling lawyer. Doing comedy is not easy and I just hope the film does well,” says the actor, who is also looking forward to the releases of his films, Dedh Ishqiya, Joe B Carvalho and Chambal Safari.
In 2010, Warsi turned producer with the film, Hum Tum Aur Ghost. He now feels that it wasn’t the best decision. “I’ve realised that I’m a very good producer for my crew and actors, but I’m a bad businessman. I spend like mad and that makes me a bad producer.” Warsi now wants to direct a film but says his acting assignments don’t leave him with any time to do that.
Lastly, when can we see him play Circuit again? “All I know about the Munnabhai series is that two scripts are ready but nothing has been locked yet. I know people are waiting to see Munna and Circuit back on-screen,” says Warsi.
