Mumbai, July 4 -- Buzz is that Ram Gopal Varma has started work on his next movie, after Rakta Charitra. The filmmaker is reportedly planning a prequel to Ab Tak Chhappan - Department - that revolves around four encounter specialist cops and how they cope with internal rivalry when things turn sour between them.

RGV's muses are supposed to be Pradeep Sharma, Vijay Salaskar, Daya Nayak and Sachin Vaze.

According to a reliable source, Ajay Devgn, who had last teamed up with the director in Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, has been confirmed as one of the protagonists modelled on Daya Nayak. Varma is also keen on roping in Nana Patekar, John Abraham and Vivek Oberoi.

Says our source, "The film is set in a time when a policeman who was partial to one don would gun down members of his rival's gang in encounters. This created rifts within the department." When contacted, Varma refuted the rumour but our source insists that the project is on.
