Remo to remake 1959 hit Navrang

By Hindustan Times

Remo D’Souza is currently riding high on the success of his small-budget non-starrer film ABCD -Any Body Can Dance. The choreographer-turned-director is now all set to helm the remake of director V Shantaram’s classic dance film, Navrang (1959). “I have bought the rights to the film and it’s in
the scripting stage,” says Remo.

The desire to remake this particular film was to fulfil Remo’s dream of working with Madhuri Dixit, who is known for her graceful moves. The director is certain that he will make the film with Madhuri in the lead.

“I’ve always wanted to work with Madhuri just like I always wanted to remake Navrang. So when I start working on that film, I will definitely want to cast her,” says Remo. The original had actors Mahipal and Sandhya in the lead roles.

Meanwhile, Remo is getting ready to make the sequel of ABCD and an action movie with Sidharth Malhotra, which is jointly produced by Karan Johar and UTV Motion Pictures. The director, who is retaining the lead cast of ABCD in the second installment, reveals some details about it.

“I can’t speak much, but one thing I can tell you that it’s based on the real-life story of one of my friends. I will add a few faces, but the major star cast will remain the same, including Prabhudheva,” says Remo, who has already managed to rake in R32.2 crore in the first week of ABCD’s release.
