Rani back as a journo!

By Hindustan Times

Mumbai, March 25 -- In 2011, after a string of unsuccessful films, Rani Mukerji came back with a bang, playing a hard-nosed journalist in director Rajkumar Gupta's No One Killed Jessica. Since then, she has had two releases - one of which did well (Talaash; 2012), while the other sunk without a trace (Aiyyaa; 2012).

Rani, and her fans, will be hoping for a good start to 2013. She is back working with, arguably her favourite director, Karan Johar. She stars in the filmmaker's segment of Bombay Talkies (BT), which is made up of four short films, and which celebrates 100 years of Indian cinema. And once again, Rani will play a journalist in the film.

The spokesperson of the movie further informs us that "Rani plays a sexually repressed housewife in Karan's film". She stars opposite Randeep Hooda in the movie. A source close to KJo says, "Karan is happy with the outcome of the film. Not only has Rani proved her talent once again, but Randeep and Saqib Saleem have also done a good job. The film has been shot in real locations in Bandra and Dahisar. Karan was the last one to shoot among the four filmmakers, after finishing Student Of The Year (2012)."

Besides Karan, Bombay Talkies sees three other directors coming together - Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap. The much-talked about film is set to release on May 3. It was on the same date, a hundred years ago that the first Indian film, Dadasaheb Phalke's Raja Harishchandra (1913), released.
