Mumbai, Feb. 24 -- Actor Randeep Hooda is set to share screen space with Naseeruddin Shah in an action thriller titled John Day. The film comes almost 11 years after Mira Nair's Monsoon Wedding (2001), which marked his debut in Bollywood.
Confirming the news, producer Anjum Rizvi says, "It's a revenge drama. Both play parallel characters." The film will be directed by debutant Ahishor Solomon. "After a long time, the film will show Naseeruddin in the angry man avatar. He will be seen doing full-fledged action scenes in the film," says Rizvi, who has worked with the veteran actor in A Wednesday (2008).
The producer is elated to work with the veteran actor again. "It's a good script and he liked it. It's a great pleasure to have him on board," he says. Ask him if there is any particular reason behind keeping the name John Day, and Rizvi doesn't divulge much, except saying, "It's the name of one of the characters."
Randeep, who had been doing theatre with Naseeruddin for a long time had shared his first ever scene on the silver screen with the actor in Monsoon Wedding. The actor adds that he was longing to work with him again. "He is an institution. I am glad I have finally got an interesting film to share screen space with him," says Randeep, who has lately created a niche for himself by playing edgy characters in films like D (2005), Risk (2007), Once Upon A Time.... in Mumbaai (2010) and Saheb Biwi Aug Gangster (2011). He is currently shooting for Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine. John Day is set to go on the floors some time in April.
