Ranbir gets into salesman's shoes for 'Rocket Singh' (Film Preview)
| New Delhi, Dec 6 (IANS) After giving two back to back hits with "Wake Up Sid" and "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani", Ranbir Kapoor is all set to woo audiences once again - and this time as a Sikh salesman in "Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year" that releases Friday. Produced and distributed by Yash Raj Films (YRF), the film has been directed by Shimit Amin and written by Jaideep Sahni of "Chak De! India" fame. Made at a shoe-string budget of around Rs.5 crore, "Rocket Singh" is the debut vehicle of Shazahn Padamsee, daughter of ad man Alyque Padamsee and singer Sharon Prabhakar. Gauhar Khan and Sharon also play pivotal roles in the movie. "'Rocket Singh' is not only my greatest film, but it is also one of the greatest films of recent times. It is unlike what people have seen before; the sensibilities are unique. I am sure it will get the recognition it deserves," Ranbir had said. The story revolves around a salesman Harpreet Singh Bedi (Ranbir) who has just graduated with embarrassing marks. But that doesn't stop him from dreaming of an exciting and adventurous career. He dives into the world of sales -- believed to be an ultra cool career for all those who cannot make it to medical, engineering or business schools. Harpreet wants the same career as it involves smooth dressing, smoother talking men and women who can sell ice to an Eskimo, dreams to an insomniac, and a lifetime mobile connection to a dying man. But soon, his idea of success begins clashing with the strange ways of the professionals and bosses he always looked up to. The story takes a turn when he discreetly becomes a conman and starts operating a parallel company within the same firm he works in. Considering Amin, Sahni and YRFs' past record of critically-acclaimed hit "Chak De! India" and the buzz around "Rocket Singh", it is being touted to be a sure shot winner at the box office. A heartthrob among fans for his chocolate boy image, Ranbir is already gearing up for different roles. "I love trying out new roles, and I am very grateful for all the different roles I have got. One needs to be convincing, no matter what he is doing, and work hard. You leave the rest to god. I choose my movies and roles according to my 26 years, and when I am 40, my choices will change," the actor had said. Bookmark/Search this post with: |
