Mumbai, Oct. 4 -- Musician Raghu Dixit is ready to make his Bollywood debut with YFilms' next Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge. And the molecular biochemist -turned-musician, who has composed for south Indian films like Psycho (2008) and Just Math Mathalli (2009) in the past, admits he had never imagined that making it in the Hindi film industry.
"I never imagined that I would be doing music for Bollywood films. Forget that, I never thought I would be making music. I was a scientist. I got into music after quitting my job 10 years ago," says Raghu, adding, "After my album (Antargni-The Fire Within) released three years ago, I became a known face. Then I composed the music for a couple of films down south. The songs are still on the chartbuster list. That's when I realised the power of the film industry," he says.
Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, directed by Nupur Asthana, is a comedy set against the backdrop of social networking. Raghu has composed eight songs in almost every genre of music from rock to qawwali, revealing, "I didn't have to make a second melody for any of the songs as they were all approved at one go. I have recorded 90 per cent of the music in my studio in Bangalore. Only the voices are recorded in Mumbai. I have such a good band that I preferred recording live, giving the album a similar feel."
