Priyanka Chopra and Ekta Kapoor will work together for the first time in the latter’s next production, Milan Talkies. However, not many know that PC’s professionalism and hardworking nature had caught the producer’s attention earlier this year at an award function. So much so that the latter even promised the actor that they would team up as soon as the right project came along.
Ekta narrates the whole episode: “Yes, I was very impressed with Priyanka’s professionalism and hardworking nature. I remember her at The Global Indian Film And TV Honours awards. She had worked very hard on her performance. When I pointed out that she was working too hard, she had replied, ‘It’s my job, after all.’ At that time, I had told her, ‘We will work together the moment I have a role for you.’”
Initially, there were rumours that Sonakshi Sinha would play the female lead in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s film. However, Priyanka was ultimately finalised for the part opposite Imran Khan. “Tigmanshu is an extremely talented director, and it was he who came to me (with the offer). Plus, Ekta and I had wanted to work together for a long time.
I also loved the script. It’s the sort of character I haven’t played before.
So I am super excited about it,” says Priyanka.
Ekta on her part, is confident about the film’s script. “Tigmanshu has a peculiar sense of humour. The film is set in a small town and involves a love affair, which is generally prohibited by society in such places. As a result, the humour is very quirky and not in-your-face. I can assure you that everyone will love this film,” says the producer.
Milan Talkies is likely to go on the floors early next year. If all goes well, Tigmanshu — who calls the film “his first love story”, will shoot in and around Lucknow and Allahabad. Around the same time, the director will also shoot the Saif Ali Khan-starrer Bullet Raja.
