Mumbai, May 3 -- Most stars reinvent themselves after taking a break from the big screen. Preity Zinta has signed on for Tigmanshu Dhulia's forthcoming film, Jai Ramji and contrary to her bubbly image, the actor will play a con woman, an accomplice of Irrfan Khan and Randeep Hooda.
Interestingly, it is learnt that characters from Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid inspired the director to create the con-men essayed by Irrfan and Randeep. An insider well-versed with the storyline reveals that despite being partners, both are romantically interested in Preity. "Although she's not a full-time con woman to start with, her character gets involved with their operations after bailing them out of a mess," reveals our source.
He further adds that though Preity's character is aware that both Irrfan and Randeep are in love with her, the reason she plays along provides the twist in the tale. The film is set in small town North India and Arjun Rampal plays a cop on the chase.
Preity's last film role was a cameo in the Salman Khan-Kareena Kapoor romcom, Main Aur Mrs Khanna (2009). She did it primarily for good friend Prem Soni, who was the film's director. Her other film, Har Pal, directed by award-winning filmmaker Jahnu Barua, is ready and has been awaiting release for about a year now.
On her part, Preity declined to comment. Currently preoccupied with her team, Kings XI Punjab in the ongoing Indian Premiere League, the actor maintained: "I'll talk about my movies and other things only after the IPL is over."
Shooting for Jai Ramji is scheduled to start this July and is expected to wrap up by November. Reportedly, Preity has liked the script and her role in the film, and committed to act in it. But official signing of the contract will be completed after the IPL ends in June. Director Tigmanshu remained unavailable for comment as he was shooting.
