Actor-turned reality TV judge Sonali Bendre is hating the whole fuss about actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s post pregnancy weight gain, and has come to her defense. “People are being too harsh on her. She has just had a baby. She deserves a break. Please let her be. Let her enjoy this happy phase of her life,” says Sonali, who is close to the Bachchan family.
Prod the 37-year-old on her plans of getting back to the silver screen, and she says, “I am not looking at getting back to movies... I am not in that required mental space. I think the beauty of where I am is that I pick and choose my work and do things only if I feel like doing it. It is a very happy space to be in. There is no pressure. And I won’t take up something until it takes me into a happier space,” said Sonali, who was in the Capital as the first brand ambassador of Oriflame and launched their Studio Artist range.
Sonali is currently occupied with her brand commitments, and also taking care of her seven-year-old son, Ranveer. “I’m not sure about doing the next season of India’s Got Talent as I have been doing this since past three seasons and I had never done anything for so long,” she said, adding, “Indian cinema is going through an interesting phase. There are a lot of new ideas floating around, let’s see if something inspires me.”
Though she is not as big a movie buff as her husband, filmmaker Goldie Behl, but she says that she still manages to keep a tab on good films. “I am not one of those movie-watching persons like my husband. I’d rather pick a book instead of going for a movie. But I really liked Avengers, and a part of Ishaqzaade.”
Talking about married female actors not succeeding in Bollywood barring a few exceptions like Kajol, she said, “Why are we just looking at Kajol? In the past a number of actors have succeeded even when they had babies. The script is the winner... everything else is secondary.”
