If all goes well, the trials and tribulations of legendary musician RD Burman would soon be captured on celluloid. Bheja Fry actor Vinay Pathak has been approached for the role of RD Burman in the film titled RD. Soumik Sen, and Eros International would be making the film.
"Eros and Vinay share a very comfortable professional equation, after Chalo Dilli. They felt that Vinay, who is very comfortable within the comedy genre (Bheja Fry, Chalo Dilli), would be apt to play R D Burman. Interestingly, Vinay’s character is named Rahul Dev Dutta in the film," a source told Mumbai Mirror.
An RD film would be incomplete without his melodious songs. So all his songs which are owned by Saregama and Universal Music would be purchased for the film. Gourov Dasgupta, the Chalo Dilli music director, would be roped in to direct the film's music.
If buzz is to be believed, Chitrangada Singh is being considered to play Asha Bhosle in the movie.
Soumik Sen confirmed to Mumbai Mirror, "It is too early to talk about R.D, but yes I am working on it."
Ram Mirchandani, Chief Creative Officer, Eros International, told the tabloid, "Yes, we are making a film titled R.D. As of now, we are in the nascent stages. It is a fictional film based on the life of a music composer. The only additional thing that I can reveal at this point of time is that it will graph the ups and downs of the music composer's life, dwelling on all the trials and tribulations in his life."
