Recession ka kya karein? asks Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan may have attained a star status that needs no help from others anymore, but he says he’ll always be grateful to those who saw him to the top. The actor, who was in town on Friday night to launch his cousin and veteran filmmaker Mansoor Khan’s book, thanked him profusely for launching him (in Qayamat se Qayamat Tak, 1988) and also engaged in a discussion on the state of the economy, since Mansoor’s book explores the idea of exponential growth.

After he finished his presentation on how a desire for rapid growth is leading to the inevitable crash of the economy, Aamir, who was moderating the discussion, said, "I get depressed (about this greed) and it's very wrong."

A little later, after more contemplation on the crisis, he asked aloud, "So should I stop making movies (since the recession may worsen)?”

His brother, however, didn’t think it’s a good idea.

"You will make films of better quality now," joked Mansoor.

When politician Najma Heptulla, who was also present at the event, said, "Aamir, you should make a movie on this (greed leading to crisis)," the actor shook his head saying, "Yeh sari message waali films mere hissey mein kyun aa jati hain yaar!"
