Mumbai, July 22 -- The makers of Grand Masti, the sequel to the 2004 film, Masti, are now teaming up with a publishing house for a one-of-a-kind partnership to feature the characters of its franchise in a book. This is the first time that the international publishing house has licensed the character rights of a Hindi feature film.
A source close to the film reveals, "This content partnership weaves a story around the characters of the film. The movie is lighthearted and will take adult-comedy many notches higher than the original."
Commenting on the tie-up, producer Ashok Thakeria says, "We are humbled and privileged that the international publishing house behind Mills & Boon has chosen Grand Masti to enter the Bollywood arena by licensing the character rights of a film for the first time. The tie-up between them and the movie is a boon to the series as well as to the readers of the book."
Thakeria also believes that this move will help the film reach out to a higher number of people, and will fans of the film turning pages in the bargain. "I think is important today for people to not let go of reading habits," says the producer.
As part of this tie-up, the makers will also be announcing the Grand Masti Fun & Fabulous Author contest, where amateur authors get to submit fun, original short stories, featuring any one or all three of the movie's main characters. Two winning entrants will receive a gift hamper and have a chance to get their short story included in the e-book version, which will be released globally. The printed book will be available across India.
