Mumbai, July 17 -- Priyanka Chopra, who is playing the role of Mary Kom in an upcoming biopic on the boxer, recently paid her a visit in Imphal, Manipur - her hometown. She apparently went there to do some research for the film, which has just gone on the floors.
A source close to Priyanka reveals, "Kom recently delivered a baby and Priyanka has been meaning to go and meet her. Since she had to research for the role, she decided to go there with her director. She wanted to look at where Kom lives so that she's well aware when she plays her on-screen avatar."
We've been told that the Olympian played the perfect guide, showing Priyanka around the place. The actor even met Kom's trainer and visited the spots where she practices boxing. Ask Priyanka about her trip and she says, "This was a purely research-based trip for the film. It was wonderful for me, Omung (Kumar, director) and the team to be hosted by Mary, Onler (Kom's husband) and her family. The people of Manipur were very gracious and welcoming and we look forward to coming back here soon."
