Mumbai, June 29 -- Like Dholakia's real-life don, the Sanjay Dutt starrer Sher (stuck for a while now) is also based on Gujarati gangster - Sarman Munja Jadeja - from Porbandar.
The Jadeja family had a stronghold over Porbandar and other places in Saurashtra in the early '80s.
Sarman Munja was also known as the Robin Hood of Gujarat. It's believed that gangs headed by him kept the police on their toes in the early '80s and '90s. After his death in a gangland killing in 1986, his wife Santokben took over the running of his underworld dealings as well as his legal local businesses.
Santokben, popularly known as 'Godmother', lives in Porbandar. Actor Shabana Azmi played the female don in Vinay Shukla's 1999 film Godmother.
