I crave for a normal life: Richa Chadda

By HT

From playing the jealous sister of the heroine in Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! to playing a gangster’s wife in Anurag Kashyap’s two-part revenge saga, Gangs of Wasseypur, and more recently, a mafia don in Fukrey, actor Richa Chadda has certainly come a long way. And the 28-year-old says she is happy with her choice of films. Her next films include Tamanchey, Ishqeria and Ram Leela.

A true blue Delhiite, she says, “I am very happy with the way people are accepting me. I feel very fortunate that I am getting good work. But this too has put a lot of burden of my shoulders. Undoubtedly, my life has changed thanks to Anurag and Gangs of Wasseypur, but I haven’t changed as a person at all. Believe it or not, I am exactly opposite from the kind of loud roles I do on screen.”

As they say, success does come with a price, and Richa, too, seems to be paying it. “To be honest, at times, I crave to lead a normal life and miss it immensely. I love to bargain, but now I just can’t do that. Also now, when I have to shop in Sarojini (Nagar market), I have to change my look by donning two plaits, so that no one recognises me,” she shares.

Ask her if she’s doing a Hollywood project, as has been reported, and she says. “I am not doing that film because it had nudity, and I am not comfortable with it.”

Has she found the man of her dreams? “I am single and have no time for love. Tell me who would want to be with a girl who literally lives out of the suitcase?” she asks.
