Satyagraha? Not in real life, says Ajay Devgn

By HT

After back-to-back super-hits such as Bol Bachchan and Son Of Sardaar last year — both of which were comedies — Ajay Devgn is back to playing serious roles. The actor has played such roles in the past, most notably in Gangaajal (2003), Yuva (2004) and Raajneeti (2010). In the political drama
Satyagraha, which is currently being shot in Bhopal, the actor plays the role of a politician.

In the film directed by Prakash Jha, Ajay will be donning the avatar of a political activist and, as per sources, his character is loosely based on real-life social activist Arvind Kejriwal. And whether it is just a coincidence or not, recently, there have been a lot of rumours that Ajay might actually get into politics in real life, much like his reel life counterpart. In fact, the actor has stated that this question has been asked to him repeatedly.

However, Ajay clears the air when asked if he would take to politics. He says, “I don’t foresee myself entering politics any time soon. Nor will I favour or support any political party.” Ask him why he chooses to stay away from it and he says, “I am an actor and I love my job. My work requires 100 per cent concentration and time and there is no time for anything else apart from my family.”

After Satyagraha, Ajay will take a short break and then begin work on Prabhudheva’s next, followed by Rohit Shetty’s sequel to Singham (2011).
