Recent reports stated that since 2011, Vishesh Films, a banner owned by brothers Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt, has only invested in sequels considering them better business propositions.
The latest addition to this list is a sequel to their 2006 hit, Gangster. The makers have already started working on different ideas to make a sequel to the thriller.
The producers believe that the film has the potential to be made into a franchise. “Gangster did really well at the box-office. People liked the film and we are, for sure, looking forward to entertain the audience once again with its sequel. We are working on different ideas and the film will be announced officially soon,” says Mahesh.
So will actors Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Shiney Ahuja, who were in the original, be seen in the sequel too? “As of now we are working on the script. As soon as we finalise it, the process of casting the actors will begin,” says Mahesh.
The makers have also not decided who will direct the sequel. Anurag Basu, who directed the original, is happy to learn of these plans to make a sequel, but hasn’t been approached for the film. “It’s good that the makers have taken a call to make a sequel on Gangster. But, I haven’t been approached to direct it as of now,” says Anurag.
