Mumbai, April 9 -- There has been a lot of speculation over whether actor Ranbir Kapoor will be a part of Bombay Talkies or not. Initially, the actor was supposed to play the sutradhar (narrator) in the film, but due to certain issues, that didn't work out.
However, now, though not physically, Ranbir will still be a part of the film that celebrates 100 years of Indian cinema as the inspiration for the lead character.
A source close to the film reveals, "Ranbir is the hero of Dibakar Banerjee's short film in Bombay Talkies, even though he doesn't feature in it. The story of Dibakar's film revolves around a failed actor and his last chance to become a star. So the entire premise of the movie is that there is a shoot that's taking place and the actor on the sets is Ranbir." The source adds that Ranbir's name will be overheard throughout the film.
In fact, even at the launch of Bombay Talkies, filmmaker Karan Johar, who is one of the four directors who are part of the ambitious project, had said, "Even Ranbir doesn't know that he is the hero of the film." Ask producer Ashi Dua about this and she confirms the news saying, "Yes, Ranbir features in Dibakar's short film and he is omnipresent throughout the project."
