New Delhi, April 2 -- Actor Aamir Khan has recently said that he would love to do a film with actor and friend Salman Khan. "I would love to work with Salman. He is a great person to work with. If we come across a script, then we will be happy to do it," Aamir had said recently.
The two were last seen together in the popular Raj Kumar Santoshi comedy Andaz Apna Apna (1994). And ever since, the industry has been abuzz with suggestions of who should direct the two superstars.
Among industry insiders - actors, directors and trade analysts- that we spoke to, 3 Idiots director Rajkumar Hirani emerged as the top choice to helm the project. Trade analyst Atul Mohan says, "From the current crop, Rajkumar Hirani seems to be the best possible option as he is one filmmaker who is a brand in himself. Also, to handle two superstars in one film, the director has to be of a similar stature."
Actor Rahul Roy adds, "My vote would go for Rajkumar Hirani because he really knows how to balance characters according to the storyline and can justify the powerhouse of talent and stardom that the coming together of Aamir and Salman will create." Adds actor Eesha Koppikhar, "Most definitely Raju Hirani since he has the flair for comedy and his sensibilities are in sync with today's youth."
However, some feel that Rajkumar Santoshi, who originally created a magic of sorts on screen with the two Khans way back in 1994, should direct them again. "Rajkumar Santoshi is the only name that comes to my mind. The cult that he created in the 1990s with Salman and Aamir together...only he can recreate that same magic on the silver screen now," says actor Shakti Kapoor who worked with them in the film. Agrees director Onir, "Rajkumar Santoshi should make a sequel to that amazing film." Suggests Vikas Mohan, trade analyst, "It could be filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi who earlier directed both of them or Aditya Chopra, Raju Hirani or Karan Johar."
