Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is known to have lavish sets and larger than life and expensive films, says he was under pressure when he was asked to make the film Bombay Talkies on a tight budget. "We have our own style of film making but we didn't have much budget. First of all nobody gives
me a budget because I have always made larger than life films. This is for the first time I have to work under a budget and it was difficult to make a film under a budget.
"The budget was Rs. 1.5 crore each. We consciously made an effort to make it in 1.5 crores... we did not cheat by putting our own money into it," Karan Johar, told reporters during the trailer launch of the film.
