Priyanka Chopra-starrer Barfi! may have won accolades at almost all the film awards, but it failed to garner any appreciation at the National Awards, which has left the actor disappointed. “I am feeling bad that Barfi did not win a National Award. But then it is up to the jury why they did not
give the award,” Priyanka said at an event on Monday. The film was India’s official entry to Oscars. Priyanka, however, said that she is happy that her cousin actor Parineeti Chopra, who won a special mention at the National Awards for her role in Ishaqzaade.
“I am happy for her. Now, in the Chopra family, there are two National Awards. The whole day I had to explain what special mention means,” said Priyanka, who won a National Award for Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion (2008).
Also, contrary to reports that Priyanka would perform at the opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League, the actor would not be in the country that time. “How will she perform at the opening ceremony if she isn’t going to be in India? She had already made a commitment; she needs to be in the US regarding her album,” says an insider close to the actor.
