Mumbai, March 7 -- Despite toning down the sensual content in their film, the makers of Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns have failed to get a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. The film was issued an 'A' certificate, and this has upset the makers.
Interestingly, the film's 2011 prequel, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, too was given the same rating by the censor board. "The original was given an 'A' certificate because of its action sequences, gruesome murders and heavy sensual content. In the sequel, the makers tried to keep all this low," says a source close to the film's production house.
The 'A' certificate could mean that the film might lose out on reaching out to a wider audience. When contacted, Tigmanshu remained unavailable to comment on it but producer Rahul Mittra says, "Now if the censor board decides to issue an 'A' certificate, what can we do?"
The makers have retained most of the actors from the original. Irrfan and Soha Ali Khan are the new entrants in this sequel, which will hit theatres on March 8.
