Director Ayan Mukerji is going to great lengths to wrap up his upcoming film, Yeh Jawaani Hain Deewani, which will mark the reunion of former couple Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor on the big screen.
Earlier this week, the Wake Up Sid (2009) director was supposed to shoot some scenes for his next on a local train at Churchgate station. However, only hours before the schedule, he was informed that the railway authorities had not granted him the required permission to shoot there.
“Ayan needed to shoot some patchwork scenes on the local train. The scenes were essential to the film, even though they did not require any of the lead actors to be present,” explains a source, adding, “After giving the situation some thought, Ayan instantly decided to drive to Panvel to finish the shooting.”
While the production team scrambled to get permissions sorted out, the director and his crew rushed to get the shoot requirements in order.
“He wanted to capture the essence and feel of a crowded local train, and he knew he would get that at Panvel. Eventually, they finished the shoot. It went off smoothly and in time,” adds the source.
The film, which also stars actors Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur, is being produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and will release later this year.
