Anurag Kashyap's Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana was a highly anticipated comedy that garnered a lot of positive feedback from one and all. It is therefore surprising that the film hasn't yet picked up at the box office.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana collected approx Rs. 5.75 cr nett in its opening weekend. Fri 1.25 cr, Sat 2 cr, Sun 2.5 cr.
Adarsh wrote that the film's business was below par elsewhere [except North], despite strong word of mouth and that the film showed ample growth in North circuits, which contributed to 50% of the overall weekend business.
According to Bollywood Life, LSTCK improved on Saturday with a jump of 50% but due to low numbers on Friday total remained low. Sunday was crucial for the film and film did good business on Sunday.
The film hasn't done particularly well internationally either. Adarsh tweeted the figures: "Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana has a poor start in intl markets... UK Fri £ 7,744 ... Australia A$ 2,349 ... New Zealand NZ$ 424. It scored UAE Thu + Fri total $45,000.
Despite its dismal opening, analysts feel the film might pick up eventually due to the critics's reviews and the positive word of mouth as has been the trend in recent critically acclaimed movies.
