Last month, Avunu — a Telugu suspense thriller — did surprisingly well at the box office. Now, there is a buzz that plans are underway to remake the film in Hindi. But what’s most interesting is that Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ) girl Anushka Sharma is believed to be in talks for the Bollywood version.
Ravi Babu’s film revolves around a family that starts feeling the presence of an unknown force in their house. The original film starred Poorna and Harshavardhan Rane.
At the moment, Anushka has several films on her plate. JTHJ, directed by Yash Chopra, who recently passed away, is up for release, followed by Vishal Bhardwaj’s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola in January. Other big projects include Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet and Rajkumar Hirani’s P.K. If things work out with Avunu, it will be Anushka’s first remake of any south Indian film.
