New Delhi, Oct. 21 -- Spanish pop singer Enrique Iglesias's fans erupted in joy when he declared his love for the city and its people.
"Namaste Delhi. Main aapse pyaar karta hoon. (I love you)." The singer, who gave his maiden performance in the city at HUDA Grounds in Gurgaon, stayed true to his image of driving his fans crazy for his music. He called them on stage, danced with them and even altered his song's lyrics for them. Sample this: Here's the situation, Been to every nation, nobody's ever made me feel the way that India does," he sang, altering the lyrics of his song, Tonight I'm Loving You. The singer belted out his evergreen hits such as I like It, Bailamos, Dirty Dancer, Hero and Escape as thousands of fans screamed.
His stint, however was marred by an ugly situation at his Pune concert, earlier on Wednesday. Allegedly, the police and the organisers Only Much Louder (OML), got into a scuffle and the head of OML, Vijay Nair, was badly beaten up. "The ACP tried to force 20-30 people inside without tickets. When I resisted, he slapped me and hit me with a lathi. When another organiser intervened, he was beaten up and his eardrum got ruptured," said Nair.
