Karan Johar is back with a bang. Student of the Year has not only got positive reviews, it is also doing good business in domestic as well as overseas market.
The film is doing especially well in multiplexes. It has garnered Rs. 9.25 cr on its opening day.
However, the movie is doing average business in single screen theatres.
"The collections are considerably good for a movie with only newbies. Single Screens and non-urban areas, however, struck to a pretty average box office collection," says trade website Koimoi.com.
No wonder that the film has picked up in overseas market as well. "#SOTY - Friday: USA $ 110,000 ... UAE Thu AED 350,000, Fri AED 550,000. Fantastic growth in business," tweeted Adarsh.
"#SOTY - Friday: UK £ 28,392 [21 screens yet to report]... Australia A$ 17,644... New Zealand NZ$ 6,146," adds Adarsh.
The movie seems to have good prospects at the BO. "There is no doubt that the collections of SOTY will remain steady throughout the weekend with a probability that Sunday will see a good jump," according to Koimoi.com.
