It’s one of the most awaited comebacks in Bollywood and Sridevi had a great time seeing people’s reaction to the Gauri Shinde-directed English Vinglish, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. Egged on by the favourable response she received there, the veteran actor, who makes a
comeback to films after 15 years, has now decided to visit multiplexes in Mumbai when the film releases here next month.
“To see the audiences’ honest reaction, Srideviji will find a way to sneak in without being recognised. She and Gauri are working out a plan where they will walk in once the film begins and leave early to avoid getting recognised,” says an insider close to the film.
That’s not all. Sridevi is apparently also “working on an attire” that won’t give her identity away while she watches the film with the audience.
In Toronto, audience members were seen laughing and clapping while watching the film. “The 2,000-seater theatre was completely packed. Srideviji felt it was a great sight to see people reacting in such a manner to her film after so many years. That’s when she decided to visit theatres in Mumbai too,” says the insider.
While Sridevi couldn’t be reached for a comment, Shinde confirmed the development, adding, “As far as the Toronto screening is concerned, it was full of laughter and claps. It was an amazing experience to see people reacting in such a great manner.”
