Brash statements, brazen digs, they-don’t-stand-a chance attitude — Kareena Kapoor is at her fiercest best these days, much like her post-Refugee (2000) days. The 31-year-old is hurling one controversial remark after another, and the reason, presumably, is the upcoming release of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine. The film is touted to be the 31-year-old actor’s do-or-die outing before her impending wedding with actor-beau Saif Ali Khan. Experts attribute the sudden aggression to an attempt to retain her status as Bollywood’s reigning queen. “With Heroine, there’s a lot at stake for Kareena. The fate of the film will directly impact her status in the industry,” says trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

I don’t think The Dirty Picture was an out-of-the box film ... Heroine is not a dirty film.

Yes, my picture on the Heroine poster does look photoshopped. Everyone does it. Heroine’s posters haven’t been photoshopped as much as other movie posters.

Heroine is much bigger and better than Fashion. It is Madhur’s best work. I don’t need a National Award (Priyanka won it for Fashion)
