Director Ram Gopal Varma, who has established himself in the horror films department, wields the megaphone again for the sequel to his 2003 film, Bhoot.
However, this time around he seems to be concentrating more on content and not on the stars. He has signed a relatively unknown six-year-old girl, Alayna, as the lead of his film.
Confirming the news, RGV says, “A six-year-old girl named Alayna is playing the protagonist and Manisha Koirala will be playing her mother.” Produced by Nitin Manmohan, the sequel was supposed to be directed by Vikram Bhatt. However, Vikram walked out as he felt that since the original film belonged to RGV, he should direct the sequel of as well.
RGV, who has made horror movies like Raat (1992), Bhoot (2003), Phoonk (2008) and Phoonk 2 (2010) before, is shooting the new film in 3D. Ram says, “For the first time I am making a film in 3D, so there is distinctive shooting style,” says RGV.
The director rubbishes reports that the film was wrapped up in 14 days, which would have made it the first film that was completed so fast. “It’s not true. That was just first schedule. We are doing the rest of the shooting next month,” the director says.
The original Bhoot was a multi-starrer with actors Ajay Devgn, Urmila Matondkar, Nana Patekar and Rekha among others.
