Satyamev Jayate: Success or what?

By Hindustan Times

Mumbai, May 24 -- Howdy my panchratans? It's one of the brightest mornings, this summer. I slept like a log last night and woke up even before the sun was on the horizon. Hah! It's divine to watch the sun rise with a cup of lemon tea in my hand. And of course, I have my maid Munni, whining and nattering around the house. Anyway, before I get any further into the mundane, here's the latest from Bollywood.

For starters, I don't know whether Aamir Khan would like to rejoice or feel sad about what's going on around his debut TV show, Satyamev Jayate. The show's numbers haven't multiplied since it started. Its TRPS have been between 2 and 3 points roughly, which is not great news for a show that offers 'social help' to the viewers, and was promoted so heavily.

However, in the two weeks it has been on air, the show has tasted success of a different kind. First: several states unearthed cases of female foeticide after AK spoke about it at length on his show. Next: a bill for the protection of children against sexual abuse has been passed in one of the houses of the Parliament, which means it's one step closer to becoming a full-fledged law. Hmmm, commendable, don't you think?
