After getting the second best opening in 2012, Sajid Khan's sequel to Housefull continues to perform well at the box office. It seems Akshay Kumar's magic is back despite the current IPL fever.
The second weekend collections of the film are impressive. "The collections on Saturday jumped to about Rs.6.75 crore from Rs.4.75 crore on Friday. Sunday numbers were said to be about Rs.9 crore, taking the India net collections to Rs.81 crore. The film, which cost over Rs.75 crore to make, including prints and advertising, has already ensured the producers Rs.28 crore from satellite rights," reported Mid Day.
Housefull 2 had garnered Rs.42 crore in its opening weekend. "The first day collections of the film were Rs.14 crore. On Saturday, collections dropped slightly to Rs.13 crore. On Sunday, Housefull 2 netted a total of Rs.15 crore, taking its three-day total to Rs.42 crore (approx. all-India net)," trade analyst Komal Nahta stated on koimoi.com.
"In terms of box-office records, Housefull 2 has the second best opening day collections of 2012, after Agneepath (Rs.25 crore)," he added.
The film's 'dirty dozen' cast comprises of Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Shreyas Talpade, Asin Thottumkal, Jacqueline Fernandez, Zarine Khan, Shahzan Padamsee, Mithun Chakraborty, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Boman Irani.
Sajid Khan's last two directorial ventures Heyy Babyy and Housefull were also hits. So is it really Akshay's magic or Sajid's charisma? Who cares as long as tickets are selling!
