He came out of jail four years ago, but the memories still haunt actor Sanjay Dutt. Sitting in his vanity van in Mumbai, the actor, who is hosting Bigg Boss Season 5 says he would never participate in the show because of his fear of being closed in small spaces.
“Bilkul nahi. Meri zindagi mein jo haadse hue hain … teen saal jo jail mein raha hoon, uski wajah se mere mann mein darr baith gaya hai. I feel claustrophobic. Yahan tak ki main kaafi der apni vanity van mein bhi nahi baith sakta. Pata nahi kya ho gaya hai,” says the actor, who spent 16 months in jail in 1993, and was jailed again in 2007 for illegal possession of arms in the 1993 Mumbai serial blast case.
The actor, 52, says that he chose the show for his TV debut because actor Salman Khan is his co-host on the show. “I got lot of offers to host TV shows earlier. However, the best thing about this offer was Salman. Woh mera chhota bhai hai. Toh aur bhi mazaa aayega. I am lucky that Salman is with me.” Dutt also rubbishes reports of a fight with Khan. “Salman se mera rishta bahut purana hai. There can be no fight. Even if there was, why are others concerned? I don’t create controversies. I don’t want to be part of them.”
Dutt, whose film Rascals opened recently, says that he is a family man and spends ample time with his twins, son Shahraan and daughter Iqra, who turn one later this month. “I give lot of time to my kids. I try to get home as soon as possible to play with them. Seeing them grow up is the best feeling.”
