Want Prateik's guitar?

By Hindustan Times

Mumbai, Sept. 22 -- Till date, not many are aware that actor Prateik has been religiously donating a part of his filmi earnings to various charities he supports. Now, he plans to take his philanthropy a step further by auctioning the guitar he's seen playing in upcoming flick, My Friend Pinto (MFP).

"During an internal meeting between production house members, Raaghav (Dar; director) and Prateik, he came up with the idea of auctioning his favourite guitar from MFP to help out charities that aid children and senior citizens. And everyone was game to go ahead with the plan since it was a noble thought," says a source.

When contacted, Raaghav confirmed Prateik's plans. "Yes, it has been discussed in the meeting, but I don't know what's finally going to be done about it." The debutant director also concedes that Prateik plays a musician in his project, produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Raaghav, in fact, feels Prateik's "kind-hearted and caring" character in MFP reminds him of the legendary Raj Kapoor, and is almost a contemporary follow-up to the legend's characters in films like Jaagte Raho (1956) and Awaara (1951).

"In the film too, Prateik has acted the way Raj Kapoor's characters might have done in a modern setting. Plus, I find his acting skills like the way he uses his eyes to be very similar to that of Raj Kapoor's," adds Raaghav. The film also stars Kalki Koechlin.
