Abhay gears up for first item number in zom-com!

By Hindustan Times

Mumbai, Sept. 18 -- Last year, Abhay Deol was in the news for turning into an item boy for Sudhir Mishra's Tera Kya Hoga Johnny, a yet-torelease movie. But he insists that 'Sheher ki rani...' was not an 'item song' as hyped, but a passing special appearance he'd done for buddy Soha Ali Khan. "I meet Soha at a club, we dance. I go to get a drink, when I return she's gone. How can that be an item song?" he retorts.

Buzz is that Abhay's miffed because a song in Shanghai, 'Bharat mata ki jai ...', involving a 500-strong mob, is being mob, is being picturised on co-star Emraan Hashmi. He laughs off the rumours: "I know Dibakar (director Dibakar Banerjee) is shooting an item number but I don't know if it will be with Emraan. My first item number will be for Navdeep's (director Navdeep Singh) zom-com."

The film tentatively titled Shaadi Of The Dead is a big fat Punjabi-meets-zombie wedding. "You're going to fall off your seat laughing," he promises. "We have a two-month schedule in Rajasthan coming up and the jokes have started. Don't leave your brains behind when you go to see the film because the zombies eat brains. Tandoori bheja fry is the main dish at this wedding."

Prod him on the 'item number' and e says, "Wait and watch out for it. I can promise you full-on dhamaal (fun)."
