Saif Ali Khan: 'All well, never been better'

By Hindustan Times

Mumbai, June 21 -- Actor Saif Ali Khan is livid over recent reports that Kareena Kapoor and he are on the verge of a split due to her round-the-clock shooting schedule that has left him feeling 'neglected.' "Why would I feel neglected? I have my parents and children here with me. Kareena was in London a couple of weeks ago and is expected to join me soon," retorts the star-producer, who is neck-deep in filming his next home production, Cocktail, adding with a chuckle, "Work is so hectic that there's no time to feel neglected."

He points out that Kareena and he have a pact to fly down to be with each other every few weeks and she will be joining him in Paris when he visits the French capital to keep his commitment with an international watch brand. "After that, we'll spend a couple of days in London before returning home to India," he informs.

Saif is awkward discussing his personal life and in recent times, he has insisted that his interviews focus only on his work. "I end up becoming just another guy dating a beautiful actor rather than an actor trying to make good cinema," he grouses. "But I understand where these rumours are coming from. I've been busy with Agent Vinod, Aarakshan and Cocktail and Kareena's been juggling five big movies - Bodyguard, RA.One, Agent Vinod, Short Term Shaadi and The Act Of Murder. But I can assure our well-wishers that all is well, in fact, it's never been better."

He points out that in the course of their four-year relationship he's gotten used to being talked about. It was only when the media reported that he was upset with Kareena for kissing Sylvester Stallone on the sets of Kambakkht Ishq (2009) that he lost his cool.

Equally upsetting is the recent story in a city daily which alleges that he's unhappy about having to finance holidays for Kareena's family. "Her family has always been kind to me, so this is really disturbing. Bringing in the family and alluding to bonding with members of the opposite sex is in really bad taste," he says.

How have his parents reacted? "They're not the kind to react, having had their share of gossip. They know just how much importance to give to such baseless stories and that is none." So, can we expect a marriage announcement after Agent Vinod? "Sure, Kareena and I are extremely close and looking forward to a bright future together. But please, right now, I'd like the focus to be on our professional life, rather than let our personal life once again overshadow it."
