Mumbai, Jan 4 (IANS) Saif Ali Khan has turned action king for his forthcoming film "Race". And though actors are known to use body doubles for complicated and dangerous stunts, this actor refused to do so.

"Race has many dangerous stunts and all of them had to be shot in such a way that it looked dangerous as well as real. In one of the scenes Saif had to jump down from a 22-storey building and he refused to use a body double for the scene. He wanted to do the scene himself," said director duo Abbas-Mustan, who are directing the film.

Although Saif was tied to a harness, it was very dangerous to jump down from a skyscraper.

"We are thankful to Saif for doing the stunt. He did it thrice just to okay the shot. Everybody on the sets would get frightened and our hearts would stop beating as soon as he jumped down," said producer Ramesh Taurani.

However, the producers had taken all precautions while shooting the scenes. A doctor and an ambulance were kept ready on the sets as part of precautionary measures.

Mallika steps into Madhubala's shoes

Mallika Sherawat is ready to step into legendary actress Madhubala's shoes for her soon-to-be-released comedy venture "Maan Gaye Mughall-e-Azam". She will be seen dancing on the classic song "Pyar kiya to darna kya".

However, the song will be presented in a completely different format. Sanjay Chhel has written the lyrics and Anu Malik has composed it.

"The song 'Pyar kiya toh darna kya' is one of the greatest songs in the history of Indian films. No one can ever make such a beautiful song nor can anyone copy Madhubala or even forget her performance in the song," said Malik.

"As the film is a comedy and the cast play stage performers, the song has many funny lines in it and the song is not meant to hurt anyone," added Malik.

"The song has been picturised on Mallika and though the song is based on the classic song 'Pyar kiya to darna kya', it will be in a completely different tune," added Ratan Jain, who is producing it.

Amrita's hot new avatar

Amrita Rao is back in a hot new avatar for her forthcoming release "My Name is Anthony Gonsalves".

Riding high on the super success of "Vivah", Amrita seems quite pleased with her makeover in "My Name is Anthony Gonsalves"

"It surely is a new look for me. As an actress one cannot restrict oneself to a particular image, and needs to constantly keep experimenting with different kinds of looks, costumes and characters. Though I love being called the girl next door, I want to change the definition a bit. The girl next door can have a great sense of humour, be attractive and 'hot'," said Amrita.

"'Tum miley' is one of the most romantic songs I have ever done. I was just sporting the attitude of the song. Additionally, it was shot in idyllic Goa. I just share a certain karmic connection with the place. And, besides, I share a great comfort level with Nikhil (Dwivedi, the co-star). Mark my words, he is one of the most confident newcomers in Bollywood. His second name should have been 'Confidence'.

Incidentally, whilst shooting in Goa, Amrita surprised the locals with her command over Konkani. She even learnt to cook authentic Goan delicacies at Britto's in Bagha beach.
