Mumbai, March 16 -- Zee TV will run another manifestation of its reality show, Dance India Dance (DID), before DID Season Three flags off towards the year end.. Dancing Ke Superstars takes over from DID Doubles in the Friday-Saturday 9.30 pm slot. DID Doubles wraps up early next month.
The new show will feature popular faces from the two previous seasons of Dance India Dance, the current season of DID Doubles, and the first season of DID L'il Masters. There won't be eight-10 episodes devoted to auditions this time.
The channel has approached choreographer Geeta Kapoor, Marzi Pestonji and Remo D'Souza to mentor the dancers and judge the show. 'Grandmaster' Mithun Chakraborty is expected to continue with his 'Kya baat' act. Back on screen Siddhesh Pai, Jai Kumar Nair, Salman Khan, Prince, Alisha, Mayuresh, Vrushali, Shakti, Punit, Dharmesh, Binny, Kruti, Amrita, Amar, Kishore, Avneet, Atul, Vaishnavi and Jeetumoni have been approached to be a part of this show.
Manish Paul, Jay Bhanushali, Shveta Salve and Soumya Tandon have been approached to host it, two of them have reportedly been finalised. Ashish Golwalkar, head of non-fiction programming, Zee TV, confirms the news but refuses to confirm ames. "We can't think of a dance show without Mithunda. He's the lifeblood of all of Dance India Dance formats," he says. "We don't have a firm multiple season contract with him but he loves working with us and we love working with him. So, he will be on this show for sure. As for the other names, we're still in talks and will finalise everyone over the next few days."
Two weeks ago, Chakraborty had announced on DID Doubles that Dance India Dance Season Three auditions will start off soon across various cities in the country, and some parts of the world too. Golwalkar admits that true but the show will return only in the second half of the year.
"We have yet to speak to our mentors. Marzi and Rajeev have been wonderful, and Remo, Terrence (Lewis) and Geeta strongly supportive over two seasons of DID," says Golwalkar. "After we've figured out the dates with our mentors, we will move to the auditions for Dance India Dance 3. They're going to be extremely intensive."
