Mumbai, March 7 -- Director Rajkumar Hirani's ad division, Canvas Films recently launched the first IPL advertisement of the season. Called Bharat Bandh, the 30-seconders use a lot of humour and take digs at the country's quirks. Hirani roped in Shashank Ghosh, known for his film, Quickgun Murugun, for the film.
"I think Shashank Ghosh was the perfect choice to direct the ad, which has a dash of humour," says Sanjeev Kishinchandani, head of Canvas Films. The IPL is expected to start around April 8 and end by May 28. The concepts behind the campaign aim to capture cricket fever in the country. "One of the ads sees confusion taking place between politicians who are curious to know who announced this 51-day 'Bharat Bandh'. Everyone continues to deny it, until they realise that Bharat will be bandh for that long due to the IPL."
