'No excellent conversations, but haven't fought either': Kangna Mallika

By Hindustan Times

Mumbai, Feb. 28 -- In Double Dhamaal, they play competing models, supposedly dating the same guy, secret agent Roy, played by Riteish Deshmukh. Sources from the sets reveal that the film's only two ladies, Mallika Sherawat and Kangna Ranaut, have taken their characters too seriously, and don't see eye to eye. It's also been reported that the actors have thrown tantrums on the sets whenever they've been around each other.

But Ranaut, whose Tanu Weds Manu released last Friday, insists that Sherawat and she have a cordial relationship. "If someone thinks that female actors behave like school girls, then they're mistaken. We have to maintain decorum on the sets," she states, adding, "Whenever Mallika and I have shot scenes together, we may not have had excellent conversations, but we've never fought either."

While both actors have gained recognition for their distinct style, Ranaut insists that doesn't mean they discuss costumes and nail paints. "I didn't discuss such things with my roommates when I was studying in college, and living at a girls' hostel. It's ideal for teenage girls to talk about the clothes in their wardrobe, the hippest nail colour, and the hottest looking boy in class," points out Ranaut.

"Mallika and I are grown-ups. And these subjects never make it to our conversations. We don't talk all the time but whenever we speak, it's like mature girls, very amicable."

Stories about Sherawat and Ranaut throwing tantrums have been making rounds for some time now. More recently, it was said that the former was given marching orders from the sets of her first TV show, Chak Dhoom Dhoom 2, by the Colors head honchos because of her tantrums and showdowns with the crew at almost every shoot.

Ranaut, it seems, has been un-cooperative over the subject of her costumes in Double Dhamaal, and has been reporting late to the sets too. It's learnt that she spends more time with her male co-stars Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi and Deshmukh on the sets, whereas Sherawat remains in her vanity van except on the days when Ranaut is not around.

Ranaut rushes to Mallika's defence, saying, "I've worked with Mallika very recently, and I don't think she is a tantrum queen. She is particular about her work, looks and costumes. What's wrong with that?"
