I never said it was Ranbir: Deepika Padukone

By Hindustan Times

New Delhi, Oct. 19 -- The ghosts of her past don't seem to leave Deepika Padukone alone. Earlier this month, HT City carried an interview of the actor, in which she spoke about how she caught her ex cheating on her. This led many to speculate that she was referring to actor and ex boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor. In response, Kapoor shrugged the label of being 'the cheat', saying, "She had not named me." Besides, he asserted, they continued to be "good friends".

But, that's not the end of the story. It is learnt that he called and confronted her for giving such an interview, and sparking off an unwanted controversy.

Following her verbal duel with Kapoor, Padukone has now clarified saying, "I had not named anyone in that interview. But the media speculated and thought that I was talking about Ranbir. However, that's not the case... I'm fond of Ranbir and we are good friends. There's no problem, thank you."

Asked about the identity of the cheating ex, she retorts, "I've said whatever I wanted to say... And whoever had to understand the message has got it loud and clear. There's nothing more for me to say on this," she asserts.

In the months after her split with Kapoor, she has often been spotted in the company of Siddharth Mallya, the son of liquor baron Vijay Mallya. Padukone, however, remains non-committal about her relationship status. "When there is something to talk about in my personal life, I will. I've not shied away from speaking honestly about that in the past... So as and when there's something substantial and the time is right, I'll be candid then also," she maintains.
