Actor Mithun Chakraborthy, who entered Zee TV’s Dance India Dance Season Three during its mega auditions, is a happy daddy these days. He’s currently working on a film called Enemy, where he shares screen space with his elder son Mahaakshay, also called Mimoh. However, these days the actor is rather kicked about taking orders from his younger son Rimoh, who is an assistant director (AD) on the film.
“I never thought I’d get a chance to work with both of them so soon. When I look at them, I can just remember their childhood so distinctly that it becomes difficult to imagine them as grown up men. Mimoh is working hard to find his ground in Bollywood. And Rimoh is clear in his head about what he wants to do,” beams Mithun, who is also anchoring Dadagiri on Zee Bangla, replacing former cricketer Sourav Ganguly.
“He’s through with his filmmaking course from Canada. His amateur film won the Best Film award there. I travelled all the way to see him collect his trophy. He’s a bright boy and he’ll become a good director one day.”
A couple of years ago, Mithun had produced a film called Jimmy, which launched his older son in Bollywood.
The film was a colossal box office disaster, but his son has since acted in a couple of movies including Haunted 3D, which was among the big hits last year. Does he plan to produce a movie to launch Rimoh as a director too?
“I do,” nods Mithun, adding, “Rimoh is still learning his work on the job. He’s putting in a lot of effort as an AD. The day he’s ready with a script, I’ll produce the film for him. And that day is not very far, let me promise you that. More than anything else, I’m keen that my son directs his brother and me. I’d love to take orders from him, like I did when he was a small boy who’d ask for chocolates and goodies.”
