Rang Rasiya (Colors of Love) is an Indian drama based on the life of Raja Ravi Varma, an Indian painter of the 19th century. The film stars Randeep Hooda and Nandana Sen in sensuous roles, along with newcomer Triptha Parashar. The film has been caught in many controversies, including censorship issues, and has finally released now, after years of objection!
1. Rang Rasya
The title track is sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Kirthi Sagathia. It consists of a repetition of the title “Rang Rasiya” for the first 2 minutes of the song in different tunes. It’s an interesting composition. There is something sensuous and yet very folk about it. Also, it’s sung very well!
The remix version is as interesting as the original, with lovely folk beats dominating the song. Great job!
2. Kahe Sataye
Another folk song in the voice of Sunidhi Chauhan, this time with the male voice of Roop Kumar Rathod. It’s a little over-descriptive and unbelievably boring. The lyrics are intense but it goes on forever!
3. O Kamini
Sung by Sonu Nigam, this song is again very boring, slow and has overly dramatic lyrics. It’s worse than the previous song.
4. Anhad Naad
A sufi/folk song sung by Kailash Kher and Anwar khan, starts of very badly, but slowly catches on and turns quite melodious. It’s slow, its fast, it’s good!
5. Sun Balam
In the beautiful voice of Rajashwari Pathak, this song is absolutely lovely. It’s gentle and romantic, and the best track of the album for sure!
The album is primarily folk, with a few good tracks and a few boring ones. It’s not usual, for sure! Very sensuous, descriptive and almost makes you the imagine love-making scenes between Randeep Hooda and Nandana Sen.
