Wait-and-watch game for this film!

Mumbai, Dec. 11 -- R... Rajkumar is Shahid Kapoor's second release in quick succession after Phata Poster Nikhla Hero. But trade analysts feel the film is far from becoming a commercial success.

Says trade analyst Vinod Mirani, "The film hasn't done well and it has managed to have a weekend collection of about '27 crore. If it has made that much money in the first week, half of it would go to the theatres and 10 per cent of it would go to the distributors. So what remains is around '13 crore. The collections have dropped on Monday, so the film seems to be losing momentum," says Mirani.

On the other hand, analyst Amod Mehra feels that the film, which is made on a budget of '60 crore (including print and publicity), will be able to recover money. "There were speculations that this film will also fail at the box office. When the critics disliked it, the hopes got squeezed even further. But it opened very well in the single screens on Friday and the turnout was better than that at the multiplexes. It did a business of nearly '10 crore on Friday, which can be regarded as admirable for a Shahid Kapoor film."

However, the film's dismal weekend collection may spell danger for it. "There was a drop of about 10 per cent on Saturday but the performance picked up again on Sunday. On Monday, there was a drop, but the film did not disappear. The film continued to maintain its steady performance on Monday," says Mehra.

For now, the makers can only wait and watch to see how it fares. "Whether it'll   be a hit or a flop can only be gauged by the second weekend, but it's certainly in a safe zone. No one will lose money," he adds.
