Happy New Year Music Review

By Tulsi, Bollywood.com News Network

Happy New Year stars Shah Rukh Khan, who is promoting the songs of this film all over the radios, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah and Jackie Shroff. This Diwali “entertainer” is a comedy/action/drama film about 5 losers who aim to rob a bank by taking part in a dance competition. Hmm. Moving on to the music album, it’s pretty much just like the plot of the film. Lame *cough*.

1. India Waale

With a super-power team of Vishal Dadlani, K.K., Shankar Mahadevan and Neeti Mohan, this song is one patriotic burst of energy! Well sung, pumped up, and very well marketed. Personally I don’t really like it. But anyway, let’s put our hands up in the air and clap away! The video is quite silly as well.

The number has an electronic version of it (they mean electronic dance music). Again, I don’t like it and find it pretty pointless.

2. Manwa Laage

Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal make a super-romantic voiceover pair. This track sadly doesn’t do any justice and is really boring. The lyrics are meant to reflect traditional folk songs, but the job isn’t done well. It makes you yawn. The video however is quite nice. Deepika looks beautiful in a bright yellow dress and a simple Indian look. She dances wonderfully as well. Shah Rukh Khan looks old, but charming.

3. Satakli

No, it’s not stolen from Singham Returns. In fact, this song makes the Singham Returns track look like it deserves a million entertainment awards. This track, sung by Sukhwinder Singh, is unbelievably crap. A Radhe-Krisha chant is supposed to be powerful and soothing, but here it sounds extremely forced. Oh, by the way you may not realize this from the lyrics of the song, but the song is about breaking the matki. Maybe the chant was their attempt to connect the track to the video.

4. Lovely

Again, highly marketed, this song is very annoying! It’s all over radio and it haunts us on every channel. Sung badly by Kanika Kapoor, Ravindra Upadhyay, Miraya Varma and Fateh, it somewhere has a similar ring to it as Babydoll, but is not even half as awesome as that. And has the most ridiculous lyrics. There is some rap, some wannabe beats, some horny sounds, and that’s it. The video, however, is steaming hot and gets anyone drooling! Deepika is irresistible!

5. World Dance Medley

A mix/medley of all the songs of the album, which sucks. The singers are a mix of all the original singers of the songs as well as Shah Rukh Khan who gives a few dialogues here and there.

6. Nonsense Ki Night

The very song where Mika Singh disappoints. It’s truly nonsense. (I believe it’s a bunch of Hindi phrases and translated into English.) It’s some sort of a club song, or a strip club song, but whatever it is, it’s just pure rubbish.

7. Dance Like A Chammiya

Now Sunidhi Chauhan disappoints. Listen to it for yourself!

8. Sharabi

This number by Manj Musik, Nindy Kaur, vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravijiani is a Punjabi pop track that disturbs you like all the other Punjabi pop attempts do, and simply makes you say: Good for you!

8. The Heist

I don’t know what this is. Some sort of a theme music I guess, but not good enough to be that.

The album is very, very boring and it’s surprising.
