Dolly Ki Doli Music Review

By Tulsi, Bollywood.com News Network

The much promoted Sonam Kapoor starrer. It’s a romantic comedy which releases on 23th January, 2015. Oh yes, it also stars Pulkit Samrat, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma. The film is about Sonam Kapoor, of course, who plays a con bride, marries men from different religions, and flees with their cash. The music album is a good portrayel of the film’s overall look and feel.

1. Phatte Tak Nachna
Starts with a peppy quirky Punjabi music , wedding like, of course, but gets absurd in the middle. Sung in the rocking voice of Sunidhi Chauhan, who sings for a crazy bride. The song is rather okay, and we would have expected better for a first song of the album. Though Sonam Kapoor looks lovely in her royal blue lehenga, she cannot dance and doesn’t do justice to the high energy song. She also overdoes her expressions, which is difficult to ignore. Yet, the video is overall entertaining, with scandalized aunties and all that drama.

2. Fashion Khatam Mujhpe
Very danceable music until Mamta Sharma starts singing. It turns out to be an absolutely ridiculous item song. Besides Mamta Sharma, the singers are Wajid and Shabab Sabri. The video stars the sexy Malaika Arora Khan, who does her moves so well that she puts Sonam Kapoor to shame! She looks her usual ooo lalaaaa!

3. Babaji Ka Thullu
Sounds great! The song is well sung by Wajid and Danish Sabri, and the lyrics are quite funny! The music is excellent, and the video is too cool! Sonam Kapoor looks smashing in her shades and colourful lehenga plus jacket! The set is awesome, and the whole thing is overall refreshing! The boys are cute as well.

4. Dolly Ki Doli
The title track. Starts with the traditional wedding shehnai which changes into heavy guitar strings and more. We love the fusion. It’s a fun song, and a nice sum up of what the film would be like as well Sonam Kapoor’s character. Overall, interesting composition. Sung by Divya Kumar.

5. Mere Naina Kafir Hogaye
The first and only romantic song of the album, which now sounds out of place.
Sung by the beautiful voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the song has an overall nice feel. But it’s nothing new or great, and even gets boring after a few minutes. Sonam Kapoor is also in a different avatar in this song, compared to the others. She is sober, simple, and beautiful in her green bridal outfit.

A funky, crazy, quirky album which is rather random, but interesting. Worth a listen.
