Milkha Singh keeps it real!

Mumbai, May 23 -- Former Olympic sprinter Milkha Singh, whose biopic will release soon, seems to be putting a lot of effort into ensuring that the upcoming film on him is authentic and insightful.

Apparently, he has asked director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra to use certain lesser-known details of his life in the story of the film, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (BMB). Milkha wasn't hesitant about sharing the information as he wants the film to be as realistic as possible.

A source close to the production says, "It takes a lot of honesty and faith to show reality as it is. In his earlier years, Milkha was involved with friends who would steal coal and even had a brush with the law. BMB is the first film on him, a living legend, so it affects a lot of people who have been involved."

It seems that when the script was being finalised, Milkha had said that he is what he is today solely because of his early days. The source says, "The first song that releases this week, titled 'Zinda', talks about the Oylmpian's younger days and shows him stealing and getting jailed."

Ask Milkha about this and he says, "I wanted Prasoon (Joshi, co-writer and lyricist) and Rakeysh to be as honest as possible. I became a national icon because of every incident that I went through during my childhood."
