Meet the comic relief of Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekkh Mudh Mudh Ke

The name Shakeel Khan may not quite ring a bell. However, one look at the repertoire of his films ranging from Don - The Chase Begins Again to Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal to Ahista Ahista to Lakshya and one tends to recollect the face behind the name. And for those who are still wondering about this young actor, he is the same man who enacted the role of a cricketer in Jannat which was loosely based on Shahid Afridi.

With a sense of choosing only those projects with prestigious bearings, Shakeel Khan is now mighty excited about his new film Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekkh Mudh Mudh Ke, a film that features Himesh Reshammiya in lead. Apparently, Shakeel gets into a different gear with this film since he provides the sole comic relief in this romantic tale. However, the role is not entirely a cakewalk for him since he is required to play the role of a blind young man.

"That's the irony of affairs," says Shakeel in mock humor, "While the world is expected to smile and laugh looking at me and my antics, I would have to act as if I can't see a thing." Talking more about the film and his role, Shakeel says, "After Jannat there has been quite some recognition coming my way. I am just walking up the ladder and it was important that after a film like Jannat, I choose my next project carefully. This is where the debut director duo Sudheer and Seema came up with the subject of Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekkh Mudh Mudh Ke and the moment I realized that I would be required to play the role of a man who has been blind since birth, I was on board."

So how exactly does he fit into the film? "The film has a complete family setup, just like you see in Rajshri films like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. There is this huge family around me, which comprises of Farida Jalal, Satish Shah, Himani Shivpuri and of course Himesh Reshammiya. Himesh and I are shown to have grown up together as a part of this family," divulges Shakeel.

Excited about the role, Shakeel informs that he has worked particularly hard on getting the mannerisms right to suit that of a blind man. "I attended a workshop with blind people so that I get the finer points right. In addition, I am also watching a lot of DVDs to understand how actors in the past have portrayed a blind man. It is a challenging role and I am not going to let it go off so easily."
